Chia Seed Craze

I have been getting asked a lot lately about chia seed and flax seeds. These seeds do boast a big punch of Omega-3s this is a fatty acid that is suppose to promote healthy cholesterol levels and heart health via antioxidant (anti-inflammatory) actions. This would be similar to getting the same benefits as taking fish oil supplements, as some MDs are recommending for heart health. I am not saying take this for heart health. I am simply saying we know from many reputable sources and lots of research that seeds and nuts are healthy options for most individuals. I have had clients adding spoonfuls of these seeds to oatmeal, smoothies and baked products to get more omega 3 fatty acids in there diets. I have also stumbled upon this little snack that I think tastes good, is low in calories and added sugar but still tastes great! So far I have tried and loved the coconut, banana nut and apple cinnamon flavors. All tasty, travel well and are shelf stable - perfect for a snack bowl or drawer in the work place, home or traveling bag.
